Refund & Cancellation Policy

This policy explains your refund and cancellation rights, including the protections you enjoy under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA).

1. Scope

This policy applies to all paid Services purchased from MAP Food Safety Solutions, whether recurring (subscriptions) or once-off (consultations, audit packages, training, document sets).

2. CPA cooling-off period (s.44)

Where you purchase as a result of direct marketing (an unsolicited email, call or in-person approach by us), you may cancel without reason or penalty within 5 business days of receiving the goods or concluding the transaction, by emailing support@mapfoodsafetysolutions.co.za. We will refund any amount paid within 15 business days.

Note: the s.44 cooling-off period does not apply when you initiated the purchase yourself by visiting the website and signing up.

3. Subscriptions

  • You may cancel a subscription at any time from your account settings or by emailing us.
  • Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid billing period; you retain access until then.
  • Mid-cycle pro-rata refunds are not offered, except where required by law or where MAP has materially failed to deliver the Service.
  • Where the CPA applies (consumer subscriptions), you may cancel a fixed-term agreement on 20 business days' notice; we may charge a reasonable cancellation penalty as permitted by Regulation 5 of the CPA.

4. Once-off purchases

Consultations, audits and training have specific cancellation windows disclosed at booking. Default rule, unless stated otherwise: full refund if cancelled at least 48 hours before the scheduled time; 50% refund within 48–24 hours; no refund within 24 hours. You may reschedule once at no cost outside the 24-hour window.

5. Digital content (downloads, document sets)

Once a digital download or document set has been accessed, downloaded or unlocked, refunds are not available unless the content is materially defective, in which case we will repair, replace or refund as required by the CPA.

6. How to request a refund

Email support@mapfoodsafetysolutions.co.za with:

  • Your account email and order/invoice reference.
  • Reason for the request.
  • Any supporting information (e.g. proof of defect).

7. Refund timelines

Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method within 5–15 business days, depending on the payment partner and your bank. Cross-border refunds may take longer.

8. Chargebacks

Please contact us before raising a chargeback — most disputes are resolved within 48 hours. Unjustified chargebacks may result in account suspension and a hold on the disputed amount until the bank/card scheme completes its investigation.
